- Text attached to the photo : Army pigeon A.W.O.L. for 2 years. Jackie, a Signal Corps pigeon who was AWOL since december 1925 when he was released with 11 others from the San Francisco light ship, 20 mile west of the Farallone Islands, was apprehended recently and is now confined to the lofts at US Disciplinary barracks at Alcatraz Island, awaiting sentence by the chief signal officer of the army.
