This message capsule was owned by the family of the soldier who brought it home in 1918. Made from lightweight aluminium, it consists of two parts, one which fits inside the other. The smaller part contains the message. The bonus is that there is still an original War Department message form inside, unused, marked Pigeon Service. Two flexible metal tabs for fitting to the pigeon's leg. Length of the container is 1-1/8in.
